Active in electric utility matters since 1980, Mr. Brickfield is knowledgeable concerning the organization, structure and operation of the electric utility industry in the United States including the financial and operating constraints, fuel acquisition and transportation, acquisition and disposition of utility assets and state economic development programs for new industrial facilities.
Mr. Brickfield has extensive experience in the interface between the highly competitive steel mini-mill industry and their electric energy suppliers. He has integrated their interests and assisted over one-half of the existing EAF mills in the United States in lowering the cost of delivered energy and state incentives.
Starting in 1988, he has assisted in siting in more than 75% of the new steel mills built in the United States starting with the revolutionary continuous strip mill built by Nucor Corporation in Indiana. Mr. Brickfield's efforts include the mills most recently built in the U.S.
Clients' requirements are shifting attention to the price spikes experienced in electric markets since 1998 and the more recent price fly ups in natural gas where various mitigation efforts are being aggresively pursued.
