Mr. Nease joined the Firm in 2000 as an associate in the Austin, Texas office of Brickfield, Burchette, Ritts & Stone, P.C. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin (B.A. 1992) and the University of Texas School of Law (J.D. 1997). Mr. Nease also studied Spanish in Mexico at the University of Guadalajara in Guadalajara, Mexico. He is a member of the Texas Bar.
Mr. Nease provides regulatory and legislative representation to the firm's rural electric cooperative and industrial electric consumers.
From 1996 through 2000, Mr. Nease served as a lobbyist while attending law school and, later, as in-house counsel for the Association of Electric Companies of Texas, Inc., the trade association of investor-owned utilities in the state, providing legislative representation for association members and assisting the association in antitrust matters related to competition in the electric industry. Prior to his work for investor-owned utilities, Mr. Nease worked for then state senator John T. Montford as a campaign travel aide and staffed policy development primarily on issues related to the electric industry and higher education funding concluding a span of almost ten years of work in the Texas Legislature.
